We have just come home from Carnewas Farm
- holidaying for a fornight. We really enjoy the peace
and quiet down here. I agree with you all - to develop a massive
holiday complex down here would be bad news, in fact it would
ruin the land. I would therefore register our support to you.

Having been frequent visitors over quite a few years I
was horrified to hear of the proposed development of holiday
homes at Porthcothan
Bay, it is, without a doubt one of the most beautiful bays in
Cornwall and I for one would be very unhappy if the Bay was altered
for
development of holiday homes.
Leave the bay as it is and let future generations enjoy the beauty
and scenery of a very beautiful bay.
Living in Sheffield it is nice to visit unspoiled coastal areas
and see wildlife in a natural unspoiled habitat, please don't
let this nightmare happen.
All the best to all at Porthcothan

We have just returned from our holiday in Cornwall and were
very concerned to hear of the proposed development in Porthcothan.
I have been visiting the bay for 35 years, originally with my
parents and now with my own family.
Each year we visit from London to recharge the batteries and
each year we comment on the changes that are taking place. Newquay
is almost a ‘no go’ area for us now, the streets
are over run with drunken youths from midday and Padstow is crowded
and expensive and too pretentious for its own good. The lovely
hotel we stayed in this year is due to be pulled down and replaced
by a development of holiday homes and we have watched the beach
hut in Watergate bay develop in to a great restaurant 5 years
ago only to become over commercialised and over crowded. The
rumour that Jamie Oliver is about to take it over will have the
developers who have already demolished half of the hotels and
pubs in the bay, jumping for joy.
But we return to Cornwall each year because there is always Porthcothan
and similar bays, which are unspoilt and have been protected
by responsible and sensitive planners. Porthcothan hasn’t
changed and it shouldn’t change. Everyone’s idea
of a holiday is different, there is room for holiday developments
and for Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver and even crowds of drunken
teenagers but please wake up to the fact that this is not what ‘everyone ‘ wants.
What everyone who visits Porthcothan Bay wants is for the area
to be protected so that our children’s children will return
to Cornwall and enjoy what we have always known to be one of
the most beautiful and unique regions on the planet.
There is nothing wrong with change but there is nothing wrong
with preserving something, which cannot be improved upon.

My girlfriend and I have been stopping
with you (Berryfields) for the last 10 years or so,both in
and out
of season......after a 2 year absence due to VW restoration taking
up my time, I was saddend deeply to hear of the loss of Philip
from this mortal plain, and to hear of the mindless vandalism
the money makers want to inflict on the Tredrea.....We wish you
all the luck, and if there is anything we can do to help up here
in Nottingham let me know.
Kind regards,

We have recently had a wonderful holiday in Porthcothan Bay
and were amazed by the unspoiled natural beauty of this lovely
place.
We currently live in the Middle East and travel to many
exotic places. However in Porthcothan Bay we found
the peace and quiet,
the surf, the beach with the caves and wonderful walks that
we were looking for!
Hopefully Porthcothan bay will remain as unspoiled as it
is and free of new developments.
Yours faithfully

I have been holidaying at Porthcothan for the last 15 years, my husband
for a further 5 years. We keep coming back for the unspoilt countryside
and spectacular beach. I agree with comments made regarding Newquay and
Padstow.
Porthcothan is for families who wish to have a quiet
beach holiday and opportunity to recharge their batteries.
For those aspiring to something
more, let them visit Newquay, and buy their holiday homes there
where the infrastruture will support the development better.
